Cham Kiu (searching bridge / bridge arms)

Cham Kiu is considered the competence of Wing Chun, it is the second form that is taught. It gives the practitioner the skills of Wing Chun Kung Fu. Without the foundation from the first form, Cham Kiu is weak because it  uses the knowledge of the power  and the understanding of the Siu Lim Tao.

Yei Ma (hipwork and stand) form the first phase of the Cham Kiu training. The student must learn these techniques very well, without them the student will not be able to learn the wooden Dummy Form and his Chi Sao will not work (unusable).

Combining the hand techniques with Yei Ma is trained in the second phase of the Cham Kiu.

Bong Sau is executed from 4 different position  (from different stands).

The third phase teaches principles of long bridge power, so the practitioner learns to attack powerfully from every position.

Note

Yei Ma teaches more strength by using hip work and standing.

Cheung Kam Fak Lak (Long Bridge Power) must be implemented.

Four different types of bong sao

Go Bong Sao (high bong Sao)
Dai Bong Sao (low Bong Sao)
Jun Sun Bong Sao (Bong Sao with a twist)
Biu Ma Bong Sao (Bong Sao with stepping)

Learn to run Jam Sao from different positions

forward
diagonal
vertical

The Cham Kiu is learned in three phases.

1. correct positions and movements

2. Power and energy control

3. economy of movement

The execution and implementation of the movements can change from phase to phase!

Other exercise methods are

Time Form - this is an exercise in which the individual positions are held variably for 1-3 minutes under tension. Time Form trains the muscles, the right stand, the diaphragm breathing, meditation.

Cham Kiu Form blindfolded - this form of training also serves to strengthen the leg muscles and balance sense.
